Villa Pasyon, La Digue: Our Review!
Upon arriving at Villa Pasyon, we are warmly greeted by Rex and Emma. They live at the front house on the main road, and Villa Pasyon is tucked away in its own private oasis. The house is situated on the back roads about 2 km from La Passe. The little path between the front house and Villa Pasyon has Aldabra Tortoises roaming, chickens and a couple of cows that are in the garden next door. We love staying in places where animals are part of the scene as our children simply love interacting with them. There are huge bamboo trees at the entrance of the property and a star fruit tree, as well as two mango trees. My children were also able to find a small mulberry bush growing beside the pool.
The house has the character of a attractive traditional Seychellois home in the way it is designed, but it is only 5 years old therefore boasting a modern interior. We actually were not expecting the lovely pool in the garden as this is not in the description on Airbnb, so we were pleasantly surprised. It even has brand new sun chairs, and a shaded gazebo with plush garden furniture. Rex did all of the carpentry in the house, including, the bed frames, the stairwell, the chairs, the kitchen cupboards and more. The woodwork is elegant and one of the reasons we booked the accommodation is for the gorgeous wood clad bedrooms situated upstairs.
The other feature we adored was the upstairs had an open area without doors or windows, so we were able to read our books comfortably in the fresh air whilst being inside the home. The surrounding area of the house is so peaceful and quiet. At night, the sky is filled with stars and there are no disturbing noises. The only sounds you hear is the crickets humming in the background. Swimming in the lit-up pool under the stars completely in privacy was so dreamy. The view from the pool is into the trees and reminded me of living in a rural area since it really feels tucked away. There is a large outdoor dining table, with room for at least 12 people to sit comfortably. We had a family style meal there with 7 adults, and 4 children.
There are numerous solar tiki torches that make for an ambient setting on an evening with Bluetooth speakers that light up like small candles so we could listen to music with an atmospheric glow. We were staying at the house with another couple and their children so felt we had plenty or space and privacy.
There are 5 bedrooms, 3 downstairs, one with an en suite bathroom, and 2 upstairs. There are also 4 bathrooms, all with great hot pressurized showers. The kitchen has everything you need, including a blender which we were so excited about having to make cocktails! There is also a very modern and sleek coffee machine that reminds us of what you would expect to see in a café just make sure you have your coffee pods as it is a pod only machine. Otherwise the house comes equipped with coffee press for those who don’t use the pods. There is enough dish wear and glass wear to fit the needs of the house. We had friends who were staying in another accommodation who came and stayed with us after they saw the house, as they did not want to leave! On our final night there we were 7 adults and 4 children, and still felt we had plenty of space.
The hosts were kind enough to share some eggs with us, some delicious mangos and starfruit from the tree, a breadfruit and even brought us enough red coconuts for each of us. The family had a trampoline in their garden which they were kind enough to let our kids use one morning without question. They have a grandson who is 3 years old and simply loved seeing our kids play in the garden. Upon our departure, we had our bags and they helped us by bringing us to the port in their golf buggy.
We would absolutely recommend this amazing house for your stay in La Digue. It has everything you need to make a perfect holiday with its stunning surroundings, friendly and generous hosts, private garden and pool, spacious and modern interior and quiet as well as very safe area. Thank you for an outstanding stay and we can’t wait for our next time on La Digue.
